THE FLUFFY JACKETS Demos Featuring NEIL MURRAY Now Available
June 25, 2007London-based hard rock outfit THE FLUFFY JACKETS has posted two songs featuring a guest appearance by legendary BLACK SABBATH/WHITESNAKE bassist Neil Murray. Check out a high-octane cover version of NAZARETH's "Salty Salty" (from NAZARETH's 1986 album release "Cinema") and a self-penned southern blues-rock slide guitar number called "Beale Street" at the THE FLUFFY JACKETSMySpace page.
THE FLUFFY JACKETS guitarist/frontman Helge Rognstad comments: "THE FLUFFY JACKETS session was recorded 'live' in the studio, which means that the songs were recorded in one take and what you hear on these songs are basically a three-piece band rocking it out. The only overdubs we made were to add lead guitars parts and chorus vocal." A third track was also recorded during the recording session which the band may release through a recording label or independently at a later stage. All tracks were recorded at the Cowshed Studio, North London, and mixed by Teo Miller (BLUR, HAPPY MONDAYS).
About the collaboration with Neil Murray, Helge comments: "I remember listening to many WHITESNAKE records when I was a kid. At the time, I would not think I'd be able to meet, let alone play with Neil Murray, so to have him playing bass on our first demo is just an incredible thing happening for us. Neil helped us a great deal. Now we are looking to audition bass players with the view to get a permanent bass player in the band."
Neil Murray initially shot to fame in the late 1970s and 1980s as founding member of the successful band WHITESNAKE where he contributed to hits such as "Here I Go Again", "Fool For Your Loving" and "Still Of The Night". Since that time he has been working with a number of highly successful recording artists, including BLACK SABBATH, Ozzy Osbourne, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani, Gary Moore, Brian May, QUEEN and the SCORPIONS, to mention a few.
Formed in 2006, THE FLUFFY JACKETS consists of a lead guitarist and vocalist and hard hitting drummer. In search of a permanent bassist, the band offered the recording job Neil Murray via the MySpace.com web site, and the bass-playing legend accepted.
Neil Murray comments: "Even though I've played on dozens of albums and toured extensively all over the world, I still enjoy laying down the bass lines and playing the blues, so playing with THE FLUFFY JACKETS on their first recording was an offer I couldn't refuse. They are great musicians and they play the blues-rock which I like, so what more could you wish for?"
Today, Neil Murray is part of the very successful musical "We Will Rock You" in the West End of London, celebrating the music of QUEEN. Neil also continues to tour and record with M3 ("classic WHITESNAKE"),which includes ex-WHITESNAKE guitarists Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody.
